Release Date:

January 22,2013

An inspiring story of faith, friendship and finding hope in unlikely places, ABEL’S FIELD debuts on DVD January 22nd from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and AFFIRM Films/Provident Films, and Covenant Road Entertainment. In a dry, dusty oil patch of West Texas, a young man on life’s journey of trials and tribulations is aided by the friendship of a mentor.  The film stars MovieGuide Awards winner Kevin Sorbo (Most Inspiring Movie Acting, What If, Grace Award 2010), Samuel Davis (New Hope) and Richard Dillard (TV’s “Dallas”).  The DVD comes with the bonus featurette “From the Sidelines: The Making of Abel’s Field,” which provides a behind-the-scenes look at the story and characters, and what it was like to shoot in Texas.

Left motherless by tragedy and abandoned by his father, high school senior Seth McArdle (Samuel Davis) has been put under enormous pressure to support his little sisters. At school, he endures the daily bullying of the football team. When he fights back, he’s singled out for punishment and assigned to an after-school work detail under the supervision of a reserved groundskeeper, Abel (Soul Surfer’s Kevin Sorbo). Much to his surprise, Seth discovers that Abel may be the only one who truly understands his struggles. As dark times lure Seth towards desperate measures, the reluctant Abel may be the one person who can point him back towards the light.

The film was directed by Gordie Haakstad from a screenplay by Aron Flasher and was produced by Tore Knos.
